Environment Sensitive Farming - practical advice for farmersIn the past the emphasis of pollution and minimisation has been on tackling point source pollution largely through the introduction of legislation that has resulted in much better controls. The current emphasis is now on reducing diffuse pollution from agriculture, which is recognised as the major source of diffuse pollutants to the environment. In each of the eight regions, the annual delivery of advice will be in the form of conferences, workshops/seminars for advisers and contractors, a farm walk and individual farm visits and the formation or adoption of farmer discussion groups. This website is designed to provide information on the activities taking place in your region and details of how you can book a place at forthcoming events. The site also provides technical summaries of the key drivers of diffuse pollution, together with access to presentations that will form part of each event. To book a place on an event please visit the events page or click on a region within the map to the right. Alternatively, please call our booking line on 0845 6023864. The key drivers of diffuse pollution include Soil Management, Pesticides, Nutrients, Manures and Waste Management. Technical information on these five key topics in the form of word documents or pdf files and PowerPoint presentations is available on this website. |
